The European Union is Canada’s second largest trading partner. That’s why it is so exciting that CETA (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) begins today.
For businesses, it means access to over 500 million consumers. As of today, 98% of tariff lines between Canada and the EU will be duty free. For Canadian consumers, it will mean more choice and lower prices.
I want to ensure that all businesses, especially those in Markham-Stouffville, have access to information and resources about these markets.
The Global Affairs website is an excellent start and you can learn more here.
You may also want to consider reaching out to the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) which provies on-the-ground intelligence and practical advice on foreign markets. This is a free service and you can access their website here.
